Blind Spot

Kör Nokta (Blind Spot) is a portable experimental exhibition design focusing on women working in professions still perceived as “men’s jobs” in society. The exhibition centers the overlooked yet ever-present figures of Izmir’s streets, industry, and commercial life. Rather than telling a success story, the project documents an ordinary and ongoing existence. Designed as a mobile structure, the exhibition invites visitors into a two-stage experience moving from exterior to interior. In the first section, viewers confront society’s established assumptions through occupational sounds, objects, and masculine representations embedded in language. In the inner section, the women appear through their names, voices, and stories. During this transition, the audience confronts both personal perceptions and social prejudices. The invisible element is not the women themselves, but the mindset that refuses to recognize their labor. The exhibition invites viewers to reconsider the world they think they already know.
Kör Nokta, toplumda hâlen “erkek işi” olarak görülen mesleklerde çalışan kadınları odağına alan, taşınabilir bir deneysel sergi tasarımıdır. Sergi, İzmir sokaklarının, sanayisinin ve ticaret hayatının görünmeyen ancak her zaman orada olan öznelerini merkezine alır. Proje, bir başarı hikâyesi anlatmak yerine, sıradan ve süregelen bir varoluşu belgeler. Mobil bir kurguyla tasarlanan sergi, izleyiciyi dışarıdan içeriye doğru ilerleyen iki aşamalı bir deneyime davet eder. İlk bölümde izleyici; o mesleklere ait sesler, nesneler ve dile yerleşmiş erkeklik temsilleri aracılığıyla toplumun yerleşik kabulleriyle karşılaşır. İç bölümde ise kadınlar; isimleriyle, sesleriyle ve hikâyeleriyle yer alır. İzleyici bu geçiş sırasında kendi algısıyla ve toplumsal önyargılarla karşı karşıya kalır. Görünmez olan kadınlar değil; o kadınların emeğini görmeyi reddeden düşünce yapısıdır. Sergi, izleyiciyi gördüğünü sandığı dünyayı yeniden okumaya davet eder.
