The Anniversary
The Anniversary is a psychological horror stop-motion animation that dwells in the claustrophobic intersection of ritual and repressed memory. The narrative follows a character burdened by the weight of a recurring ritual as an inescapable confinement, while a persistent darkness begins to seep through the cracks of a manufactured reality. Utilizing 1:10 scale sets handcrafted from balsa wood and clay and stark, high-contrast lighting, the project visualizes the gravity of a burden that refuses to be erased. The project’s core resonance lies in the tactile intimacy of stop-motion, pulling the audience into a suffocating loop where time is elastic and the domestic space becomes predatory. It is an exploration of the moments when the past refuses to stay buried, manifesting instead as a physical decay that haunts the present. The character’s interaction with the ritual represents a forced existence where the act itself becomes a vessel for the pressure of a history that cannot be escaped.

The Anniversary, ritüel ve bastırılmış belleğin klostrofobik kesişim noktasında derinleşen bir psikolojik korku stop-motion animasyon çalışmasıdır. Anlatı, tekrarlanan bir ritüelin boyunduruğu altında ezilen ve bu döngüden kaçamayan bir karakterin zorunlu varoluşunu takip ederken, inşa edilen yapay gerçekliğin çatlaklarından sızan ısrarcı bir karanlığın izini sürer. 1:10 ölçeğinde balsa ağacı ve kilden üretilen el yapımı setler ile keskin ve yüksek kontrastlı ışıklandırmanın kullanıldığı proje, silinmeyi reddeden bir yükün ağırlığını ve mekândaki yankısını görselleştirir.Filmin anlatı gücü, izleyiciyi zamanın esnediği ve güvenli sayılan evsel mekânın tekinsiz bir avcıya dönüştüğü boğucu bir döngünün içine çeken stop-motion tekniğinin o dokunsal samimiyetinde yatar. Bu çalışma, geçmişin sadece bir anı olarak gömülü kalmayı reddettiği ve bugüne musallat olan somut bir fiziksel çürümeye dönüştüğü anların sarsıcı bir incelemesidir. Karakterin ritüele olan bağı bir tercihten ziyade kaçınılmaz bir hapsoluşu ve geçmişin baskısını temsil eder.
