In exploring Rem Koolhaas’s concept of Bigness, I came to understand it not merely as a matter of scale, but as an architectural condition that thrives on contradiction and autonomy. Embracing this, I deliberately pursued a grotesque form for my building—one that does not harmonize with its surroundings, but fractures them. Rather than ignore the context, I absorbed it: I took the existing buildings’ shapes, fragmented their geometry, and reassembled the remnants into something new and disjointed. This process of controlled destruction allowed me to break continuity while still referencing it. The result is a form that is unapologetically disruptive, a physical contradiction that reflects the theoretical contradiction at the heart of Bigness. It is not about fitting in, but about asserting a new order—one that is self-referential, disorienting, and liberated from traditional architectural coherence. Through this, the building becomes an artifact of both rebellion and reinvention..
Rem Koolhaas’ın Bigness kavramını yalnızca ölçekle ilgili değil, çelişki ve özerklik üzerinden işleyen bir mimari duruş olarak anladım. Bu anlayış doğrultusunda, binam için bilinçli olarak grotesk bir form yarattım—çevresiyle uyum kurmak yerine, onu parçalayan bir yapı. Bağlamı görmezden gelmek yerine içine aldım: Mevcut yapıların formlarını aldım, onların geometrilerini kırdım ve bu parçaları yeniden inşa ettim. Bu kontrollü yıkım süreci, sürekliliği bozarken ona referans vermemi sağladı. Ortaya çıkan form açıkça rahatsız edici, teorik bir çelişkinin fiziksel karşılığı olarak duruyor. Bu yapı uyum sağlamak için değil, yeni bir düzeni dayatmak için var—kendi içine kapanık, yön duygusunu bozan ve geleneksel mimari bütünlükten özgürleşmiş bir düzende. Böylece bina, hem başkaldırının hem de yeniden yaratımın bir ürünü haline geliyor.
