This project is located in Yaşar Kemal TOKİ housing, where rigid, repetitive residential blocks dominate the landscape. These buildings lack balconies, articulated facades, or any spatial relationship to their environment — a symptom of architectural mass production prioritizing quantity over quality. Inspired by the concept of parasitic architecture and Rem Koolhaas's Bigness, the proposal introduces a thermally responsive facade system that clings to the inert TOKİ surface, reactivating it through form and function. In response to global warming and shifting solar patterns, the facade adapts parametrically to sun exposure, using ETFE membrane infill to provide insulation, shading, and potential for agricultural integration. The system prioritizes south and east facades, where solar gain is most significant. Rather than hiding TOKİ’s rigidity, the parasite amplifies its surface — proposing a new layer of climate-conscious architecture grown over the failures of the old.
Günümüzde sosyo-kültürel farklılıkların arttığı şehirlerde, yalnızca belli gelir gruplarına hitap eden projeler zamanla toplumda sosyal ayrışmalara yol açmaktadır. İzmir’de sürdürülebilir kentleşmeyi destekleyen bu proje ise, bu ayrışmayı azaltmayı hedefler.
Farklı kesimlerden insanları bir araya getirmek amacıyla tasarlanan proje, sosyal karşılaşmaları artıran köprüler ve ortak kullanım alanlarıyla birbirine bağlanan karma gelir gruplarına yönelik konut bloklarından oluşur. Binada bulunan avlular doğa havalandırma ve ışığı destekleyerek açık havada hareketi vurgulayan mahalle hissi oluşturur.
Yalnızca barınma işleviyle sınırlı olmayan bu yapı, aynı zamanda sosyal etkileşimi güçlendiren bir mahalle atmosferi yaratır. Böylece proje, kendi içinde küçük bir şehir gibi çalışarak güçlü bir topluluk duygusu oluşturmayı amaçlar.
